Initial Child Protection

This brief workshop aims to raise candidate awareness of safeguarding issues and the candidate's role in ensuring children 'stay safe', one of the key outcomes for children under the Every Child Matters agenda. The course will introduce candidates to the possible signs and symptoms of abuse and raise awareness of the prevalence of child abuse. It will give them confidence in the appropriate procedures to follow, specifically the referral process for reporting child abuse.

Who Should Attend?

All providers except for schools. Practitioners who will have particular responsibility within their setting should progress from this on to the Advanced Child Protection course. Practitioners who have recently completed a Level 3 NVQ will have covered these basic concepts and may benefit more from the Advanced course.
